AC Reggiana 1919 today welcomes Ted Philipakos as the club’s new Chief Executive Officer. Philipakos has agreed to serve in this role until the end of the season.

Philipakos, a 36-year-old Greek-American with origins in New York and Athens, recently served as CEO of Venezia FC. During his tenure, Venezia FC earned promotion to Serie B for the first time in more than 10 years, while he was the visionary behind a highly successful brand repositioning.

Before arriving in Italy, Philipakos was a player agent working in the United States and Europe and a professor at New York University, St. John’s University, and Adelphi University.

Philipakos has been recognized as a leading expert on the football industry, having been interviewed or cited by The New York Times, The Guardian, ESPN FC, SiriusXM FC, The Nation, Forbes SportsMoney, VICE Sports, American Soccer Now, and several local newspapers around the United States. His writing has appeared at Forbes SportsMoney, VICE Sports, and American Soccer Now, and he is the author of the highly regarded book On Level Terms.

“I would like to thank Mike and Alicia for this opportunity,” said Philipakos.

“Obviously the club is experiencing a difficult moment. If I did not believe that the situation could be turned around, then I would not take the decision to come here. To be sure, there is much work to do, and it will take some time. But I am not afraid of the challenge, I have a fighter’s mentality — just like the people in this city. With respect, I ask the community for trust, patience, and support. Please maintain the pride and hope. In the end, we can achieve the success that this club and this city deserves.”
